Types of housing

Before you pay a deposit
- Visit in person if possible — photos can hide overcrowding.

- Agree on notice period for moving out and deposit return conditions.

Red flags

- Passport held “for safekeeping” — your passport is yours.
- No address on the agreement or refusal to provide one.
- Pressure to sign without reading the contract.
