Loy Krathong 2026: Tuesday 24 November

Mark your calendar: Loy Krathong 2026 falls on Tuesday 24 November. It is usually not a bank holiday, so most workers celebrate after their shift — float a krathong, take a few photos, then ride home.

In Bangkok, Chao Phraya piers and park lakes get busy; watch bags and keep kids close. Prefer a natural banana-leaf krathong over foam — better for rivers and lakes. In the north, Sukhothai’s festival window runs roughly 15–24 November, and Chiang Mai’s Yi Peng lights often cluster around 23–25 November. City guidance has asked for no sky lanterns in Mueang Chiang Mai — follow local rules where you stand.

Budget tip: share one krathong with friends, eat street-stall dinner, and use BTS/MRT early before late-night crowds. Dress respectfully near temples (shoulders and knees covered).
