Three MMK Rates on Payday Explained
Remittance, bank counter, and community MMK quotes can all look right and still differ. Learn which number fits a wage send — then check today’s hub rates.
Your friend in Bangkok quotes 125+ MMK per baht. Your cousin in Yangon screenshots a community board near 4,500+ MMK per dollar (mid-Oct chatter sat nearer ~4,400; by 19 Oct 2026 aggregator-style P2P checks were closer to ~4,566). CBM’s public board shows something else again. Who is lying?
Usually nobody. You’re looking at three different layers of the MMK market. Learning to read them on payday saves arguments — and bad transfers.
Layer A — Worker remittance (the number most wage senders should start with)
This is the rate licensed banks publish for overseas worker remittances through partner channels. A 16 October 2026 pass saw major banks lined up on a clear USD figure, and that cluster was still the public worker-board number in late October:
- 1 USD ≈ 3,985 MMK — AYA Worker Remittance Rate board dated 23 Oct 2026 (10:42 AM); the same ~3,985 cluster was still used by major banks in mid–late Oct research (MTB / MAB / CB / KBZ / AYA).
- THB worker-style orientation remains ~125.5 MMK (MTB mid-Oct). AYA’s worker row on that page is USD-only — THB 125.30 / 125.67 on AYA that week is CBM online trading, not the worker remittance row.
Homepage note (27 Oct 2026): the MMKHub ticker leads with USD 3,985 (worker remittance), not community P2P. The same refresh shows THB 125 as a bank / worker Layer A orientation and SGD 2,870 from the AYA counter (not a worker remittance row). See the 27 Oct rate note.
That THB figure matters because not every bank fills every currency row every morning. On 16 Oct, CB Bank’s worker remittance table showed THB as “Nil” while USD sat at 3,985 — so MTB’s 125.5 was the cleanest published worker THB quote in that earlier pass.
Use Layer A when: you’re sending wages home through a bank or licensed remittance partner and you want a formal, comparable number.
Layer B — Bank counter / online trading
This is what you see for cash, branch, or AD-bank trading boards — travel FX, account deals, trade. Same day snapshot:
- USD counter / trading often near 3,660 buy / 3,670 sell
- SGD bank counter roughly 2,853–2,862 MMK (MAB, Yoma, CB)
- CBM “Market Trading Rate” for USD sat at 3,660; the CBM “Reference Rate” of 2,100 is an accounting board — not what workers should plan with
Refresh (22–23 Oct 2026, AYA): CBM online trading on 22 Oct — USD 3,660 / 3,670 · THB 125.30 / 125.67 · CNY 557 / 558.67. FX counter on 23 Oct — SGD 2,865 / 2,873 (USD counter still 3,660 / 3,670).
Use Layer B when: you’re changing cash at a counter, comparing bank trading screens, or checking SGD against a Myanmar bank board. Don’t mix it with Layer A in the same sentence without labelling which is which.
Layer C — Community / parallel / P2P chatter
Telegram boards and aggregator sites sometimes show USD community quotes well above bank remittance. Mid-October research (16 Oct) saw aggregator-style numbers around buy ~4,455 / sell ~4,594. Later informal checks moved higher. 27 Oct 2026 refresh (informal only): ETCurrency P2P ~03:15 UTC — USD buy ~4,630 / sell ~4,680. egcurrency market-style the same day — USD ~4,709–4,757 · THB sell ~140 · SGD ~3,679–3,716. The prior MMKHub community/ground ticker (26 Oct) was USD 4,620 · THB 132 · SGD 3,750 — orientation only, and not today’s hub USD lead. Some public feeds can look stale; always check the post date.
What Layer C is: informal street comparison, volatile, often unverified.
What it is not: a bank guarantee, a contract rate, or advice from MMKHub.
If you discuss Layer C at all, keep it numerical: date, source type, and “confirm yourself.” Skip any political framing that sometimes wraps these screenshots. For today’s hub orientation, see the homepage rates and the 27 Oct rate note (worker-remittance USD lead). The 26 Oct note is the prior community/ground ticker only.
Why the three numbers can all be “true”
Think of them as different products:
| Layer | Typical use | 16 Oct example |
|---|---|---|
| A Remittance | Wage transfers via licensed partners | USD 3,985; THB 125.5 |
| B Counter/trading | Branch / AD trading | USD ~3660/3670; SGD ~2853–2862 |
| C Community | Informal comparison only | USD ~4,400+ mid-Oct; 27 Oct ETCurrency-style P2P buy ~4,630 / sell ~4,680 (informal only) |
Your friend quoting 125+ may be on a remittance corridor. Your cousin’s 4,400–4,500+ screenshot may be a P2P board from a different hour or week — by 19 Oct 2026 some aggregator-style checks sat nearer ~4,566. CBM crosses for AUD/NZD are another story again (indicative market crosses — see our AU/NZ post).
Payday checklist before you hit send
- Licensed agent or bank? Prefer named banks / known partners over strangers in chat.
- Fee currency clear? Ask whether the fee is in THB, SGD, USD, or MMK — and who pays it.
- Who gets which rate? Sender rate ≠ receiver MMK sometimes. Ask for MMK that will arrive.
- Screenshot the quote with time and date before you transfer.
- Corridor hours matter. Example: DBS Singapore notes MMK Remit rates confirmed only in a daytime SGT window on business days — check your bank’s support page.
- Compare all-in, not the headline FX alone. A “zero fee” with a weak rate can lose more than a small fee with a fair rate.
Soft close
MMKHub publishes snapshots so Myanmar workers abroad can read numbers with less confusion. We are not a remittance desk, we do not set FX, and we do not move your money. Rates move daily — confirm with your bank or licensed agent every time.

Layer C soft-refresh 27 Oct 2026: ETCurrency P2P ~03:15 UTC USD buy ~4,630 / sell ~4,680; egcurrency market-style USD ~4,709–4,757 · THB sell ~140 · SGD ~3,679–3,716 — informal only, not bank quotes. Prior hub community/ground ticker (26 Oct) was USD ~4,620 · THB ~132 · SGD ~3,750. Today’s homepage lead is the worker remittance layer (USD 3,985), not that community blend — see the 27 Oct rate note and the homepage.
MMKHub is informational only — not a remittance desk. Confirm the MMK that arrived after fees with your provider.
