JobThai salary: “based on experience” vs a published THB band — 7 questions before you resign
JobThai “based on experience” vs a THB band — 7 written questions on base, OT, dorm, permit & offer before you resign.
Many JobThai cards for interpreter / safety / coordinator roles show “Based on experience”, “Based on company’s structure”, or Negotiable — with no THB figure. Other cards publish a clear band (for example JOINHANDS Chinese–Burmese interpreter — 20,000–40,000 THB on JobThai). Neither line means you should resign today. This page is a practical checklist of 7 questions to ask (and get in writing) before you leave your current job. It is not salary advice, not a negotiation script from MMKHub, and not a promise that any employer will answer every item.

“Based on experience” vs a published THB band
| What the card shows | What it usually means | What you still must confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Based on experience / structure / negotiable | No public monthly figure — HR will discuss after CV / interview | Monthly base, OT, deductions, dorm/food, permit who pays |
| Published band (e.g. 20,000–40,000 THB) | Public range on JobThai — often where offers start talking | Where you sit in the band, and what is base vs allowance |
A published band is not a signed offer. A “based on experience” card is not automatically lower — it is just opaque until you get numbers in writing.
7 questions before you resign
Ask these on JobThai Trust Mail / platform chat / email that is on the same JobThai card, or in a recorded interview follow-up. Keep screenshots.
1. What is the monthly base salary — and what is OT?
- Is the figure on the card (or in the voice note) base only, or “expected take-home”?
- What is the OT rate (per hour / multiplier) and when OT is approved?
- Is there a guaranteed OT amount, or is OT optional / production-dependent?
2. What deductions come off every payday?
- Social Security / tax / union / “savings” schemes
- Uniform, tools, or “training deposit” (get the refund rule in writing)
- Any other monthly cut that is not on the JobThai card
3. Dorm / food / shuttle — included, allowance, or deducted?
- Free dorm vs rent deducted from salary
- Food: free canteen, coupon, or daily deduction
- Shuttle: free, fee, or self-commute (some cards say self-commute only)
4. Work permit / visa — who files, who pays?
- Does the company sponsor the work permit and stay stamp for this seat?
- Who pays DOE / Immigration / medical / document fees?
- What happens to your permit if you resign during probation?
5. How long is probation, and what changes after it?
- Probation length (e.g. 119 days) and pay during probation
- Whether the published band / verbal figure applies from day one or only after probation
- Notice period if either side ends the contract early
6. Is the offer a written letter / email, or only a voice note / LINE chat?
- Ask for company letterhead or Trust Mail confirmation of base, start date, and location
- If answers stay as voice notes with no written follow-up — slow down before you resign
- Never pay a broker “placement fee” to unlock a verbal salary
7. How does this offer compare to other live public bands?
- Example on our board today: JOINHANDS Chinese–Burmese interpreter, Rayong — 20,000–40,000 THB (JobThai 1939779)
- Another public band: Oakwood-Elan Chinese–Burmese interpreter, Plaeng Yao — 20,000–30,000 THB (JobThai 1971348)
- Cards with no band (e.g. Unimicron Safety Officer — Burmese, Bang Pakong — “Based on experience”) need the same written checklist before you quit — see jobs board
Use public bands only as orientation, not as a promise that you will get the top of the range.
Quick red flags (salary edition)
- Closed JobThai URL + “salary higher if you apply on LINE instead”
- Figure far above the public band with no written offer
- “Pay us a placement fee first, then we tell you the real salary”
- Refusal to use Trust Mail / platform Apply; only personal transfer accounts
- Voice-note-only answers on base, OT, and work-permit fees
