Thailand → Myanmar remittance checklist: TrueMoney, KBZPay, AYA Pay, Wave
Same corridor, different apps. Match the wallet you and your family already use, check fees and cash-out towns, then compare the MMK you actually receive.
Sending money from Thailand to Myanmar is no longer “one counter, one rate.” The same baht can travel through TrueMoney, land in KBZPay or AYA Pay, or arrive via Wave partners — and the MMK your family sees depends on fee + rate + cash-out rules, not the chat screenshot alone.
Use this checklist before payday. Then compare against three MMK layers on payday and the live homepage rates.
Step 1 — Pick the Thai-side wallet or app you already trust
Common Thailand → Myanmar paths workers actually use:
| Thai side | Myanmar receive options (examples) | Notes (verify in-app — fees change) |
|---|---|---|
| TrueMoney Wallet (TH) | KBZ Bank / KBZPay; also AYA Pay corridor (TrueMoney Myanmar partnership) | KBZ announced TrueMoney → KBZ/KBZPay from 15 May 2026. TrueMoney fee table lists transfer to KBZ bank / KPay wallet at 20 THB (effective that date). AYA Pay partnership materials (2025) advertise zero transfer fee / zero cash-out fee on that TrueMoney → AYA Pay path — reconfirm in the live app before you send. |
| K PLUS (Kasikornbank) | KBZPay wallet by phone number; also partner / SWIFT MMK paths | KBank documents a Transfer to Myanmar with Phone Number (KBZPay Wallet) flow in K PLUS. Partner MMK fees can start low (board text mentions MMK starting at 20 THB/txn in places; other partner transfers often 250 THB) — read the fee screen in-app. |
| DeeMoney / 2C2P WAVE / Intersend / Krungthai | AYA account or AYA Pay; Wave wallet or agent cash pickup | AYA lists DeeMoney, Krungthai, Intersend for Thailand inward. Wave lists 2C2P WAVE App and DeeMoney for Thailand → Wave wallet or 61,000+ agent shops. |
Rule of thumb: Match what your family already opens every week — KBZPay, AYA Pay, or Wave agent near their town — before chasing a “best rate” you cannot cash out.
Step 2 — Confirm the Myanmar wallet (and cash-out town)
Ask family three questions on the phone:
- Which app or bank is already KYC’d? (KBZPay / AYA Pay / Wave / branch account)
- Nearest cash-out? Branch, KBZPay Center, AYA agent, or Wave shop — and do they open on the day you send?
- NRC / name match? Cash pickup often needs ID that matches what the sender typed.
Wave’s public remittance FAQ: receiver cash-out at agents needs valid NRC matching sender data, secret code, and transaction ID from SMS — no receiver fee claimed on their international remittance page (still verify locally).
Step 3 — Compare “MMK received,” not the pretty FX headline
Before you confirm:
- Enter the amount you will send in THB.
- Read the fee (THB) and the MMK credited.
- Divide carefully: effective rate = MMK received ÷ (THB sent − or including fee — be consistent).
- Compare that effective rate to today’s hub community/ground snapshot and to a bank remittance board if you use one.
- Screenshot the quote with date and time.
A “free” transfer with a weak rate can lose more than a 20 THB fee with a fair rate. Do the maths once.
Step 4 — Fees & limits — check the live screen (these change)
Public pages as of research for this pack (always re-open the official page):
- TrueMoney overseas to KBZ bank / KPay wallet: 20 THB listed (effective 15 May 2026) — https://www.truemoney.com/en/rates/
- KBZ Bank announcement: TrueMoney → KBZ / KBZPay; receivers can withdraw at KBZ branches / KBZPay Centers — https://www.kbzbank.com/en/blog/announcements-en/easily-transfer-money-from-thailand-to-kbz-bank-and-kbzpay-via-truemoney/
- AYA Pay ← TrueMoney: partnership materials describe seamless Thailand → AYA Pay with no transfer / cash-out fee claimed — reconfirm in TrueMoney / AYA Pay apps. AYA also lists DeeMoney, Krungthai, Intersend for Thailand.
- Wave ← Thailand: via 2C2P WAVE and DeeMoney to Wave Wallet or agent pickup — https://www.wavemoney.com.mm/international-remittance/
- K PLUS → KBZPay phone number: follow KBank’s in-app “International Transfer” → Myanmar wallet flow — https://www.kasikornbank.com/en/international-business/global-money-transfer/pages/international-transferviakplus.aspx
Limits (e.g. DeeMoney single remittance caps around USD 5,000 equivalent on AYA’s page) are bank/partner rules — your app may show a lower personal limit.
Step 5 — Test small, then send the real amount
- Send a small test the first time you use a new path.
- Confirm family received MMK and could cash out (or spend from wallet).
- Only then send the full wage remittance.
- Keep e-slips / SMS TIDs until family confirms.
Step 6 — Avoid unknown hundi / chat strangers for large sums
Informal runners can look cheaper on a screenshot. For large amounts prefer:
- Named banks and licensed wallets above
- Agents you can visit again next month
- Clear receipts
If someone asks you to “just transfer to this personal account and we’ll settle MMK,” treat it as high risk. MMKHub will never ask you to send money to a personal chat account.
Payday mini-checklist (copy to Notes)
- Family wallet chosen (KBZPay / AYA Pay / Wave / bank)
- Cash-out town open
- Fee + MMK received written down
- Compared to homepage rates and three MMK numbers
- Small test done (new corridor)
- Screenshot saved
Soft close
MMKHub publishes corridor checklists so workers can compare calmly. We do not move your money, set FX, or earn from remittance partners. Apps and fees change — confirm in-app every time.
